What "Agent-Compatible" Actually Means
Not every API makes a CRM usable by an AI agent. Your agent needs:

2. Twenty: Strong API, No Agent Integration

Twenty is an open-source Salesforce alternative with the largest community in the space (44,000+ GitHub stars). API-first, actively developed, with email sync in beta.
What You Get
Contacts, companies, deals, custom objects, email/calendar sync (Gmail/Outlook beta), table and Kanban views, workflow automation (in development), REST and GraphQL APIs.
Agent Compatibility: 3/5
Twenty has comprehensive GraphQL and REST APIs, both well-documented. An agent could use them. But there's no pre-built integration. You'd need to study the endpoints, write a custom skill file, and map Twenty's data model to agent-readable actions. A developer could build this in a day or two, but nobody has published a skill file for it yet.
Pros: Email sync (beta), largest community (44K+ stars, active Discord), API-first, modern UX. Cons: No AI or agent integration, AGPL license, some features still in beta.
Verdict: Best community in the space and functional email sync. If those matter more than agent integration, it's the right choice. But your OpenClaw Bot can't use it without custom work.
3. EspoCRM: Feature-Complete, Agent-Possible

REST API covers most features. Authentication is straightforward (API key or Basic Auth). But there's no skill file, no agent-specific documentation, and the PHP stack means API patterns differ from what most modern agent frameworks expect. Integration is possible, just manual.
Pros: Most feature-complete CRM, mature (10+ years), good docs, extensions marketplace, cloud hosting option. Cons: Dated UX (Backbone.js), PHP stack, no AI or agent integration.
Verdict: If you need email campaigns, telephony, and proven stability, EspoCRM delivers. For agent integration, you're on your own.
4. SuiteCRM: Enterprise Features, Limited Agent Access

The v8 REST API uses JSON:API spec, but has friction: OAuth2 password grant auth (complex for agents), not all features exposed via API, two API versions from the v7-to-v8 transition, and thinner documentation than expected. Agent integration is technically possible but impractical without significant effort.
Pros: Salesforce-like (easy migration), enterprise features, large community, mobile apps. Cons: Dated UX, complex API auth, PHP stack, no AI or agent features.
Verdict: Makes sense for Salesforce migrations. For agent-driven workflows, look elsewhere.

Limited API covering contacts and basic operations. Many features have incomplete or undocumented API support. More importantly, there are no deals, pipelines, or B2B features. The data model doesn't support business CRM workflows, even if the API were comprehensive.
Pros: Simple, lightweight, privacy-focused, good docs. Cons: Not a business CRM, limited API, PHP stack, no AI or agent features.
Verdict: Great for personal relationship management. Not a tool your agent can run a business with.

The Agent-Compatibility Gap
Every open-source CRM has an API. But having an API and being agent-compatible are different things.
Having an API means a developer can write code to interact with the CRM. It's a building block.
Being agent-compatible means an AI agent can use the CRM as a tool, out of the box, without custom integration work. That requires a skill file, machine-friendly auth, comprehensive endpoints, and predictable responses.
Today, only OpenClaw checks all of those boxes. Twenty and EspoCRM have the API foundation, and a developer could build agent integrations for them. But "could" and "does" are different things.
